Time Twister, die digitale Lego-Mindstorms-Uhr (ist irgendwie bescheuert)

Eigentlich ist die Uhr wirklich ganz schön cool und auch, wenn das “Ticken” tierisch nervt, ist auch das Wechseln der Zahlen nicht nur auf eine Art auch clever gelöst und schön anzuschauen, aber irgendwie auch total sinnlos, weil es bestimmt leichter und effizienter gegangen wäre.

Time Twister consists of two LEGO Mindstorms bricks communicating via Bluetooth. The master brick keeps track of the time and handles the minute digits. The slave brick handles the hour digits and the second indicator.

Each digit is made up of five layers with black and white tiles layed out in different patterns. Each layer can rotate 360 degrees before it hooks to the next layer. By twisting the top layer back and forth in a specific pattern, you can arrange the layers so that the desired digit is displayed.

Vielleicht ist das ja aber auch gerade der Clou daran. Dieses ewig andauernde Zahlenwechseln in einer Zeit, in der wir eben jene eigentlich gar nicht haben, um etwas Profanes und doch so Wichtiges, wie die Uhrzeit, zu erfahren. Irgendwie so. Oder anders. Ihr wisst schon. (via)
